New Castle's Great Island Common is a lovely 32-acre public park that includes a beach, large grassy area, and a playground.
Open from 9 am - 9 pm every day year-round, the Great Island Common is a carry-in/carry-out park. There is a small admission fee for non-New Castle residents.
Dogs are prohibited from May 15th through September 15th; leashed dogs are permitted the rest of the year.

The YMCA of the Seacoast is a great spot for family recreation, offering a variety of camps (both summer camps and school vacation camps), open swim opportunities and swim lessons, kids' yoga, classes, and more. Click here for current info.
Free child care is available during certain hours while mom and dad work out, too, and there are parents' nights out for (potty-trained) kids ages 3 and up.

Aquaboggan celebrates over 35 years as Maine's original water park. Located in Saco, Maine near Old Orchard Beach, the park offers a day of fun and excitement for all ages. There are various public parking lots in the area; during the summer season, the fee for cars is $16 per day or $80 for 10-visit tokens, which are available at the Wells Town Hall and may also be available in limited quantities from the parking lot attendants....

Third weekend in June
The Hampton Beach Catamaran Regatta has become a highlight of the summer as champions and (relatively) new sailors alike converge on Hampton Beach for a weekend of sailing.
There are races throughout the day over the course of the weekend, and they are held close to shore for easy spectating from the beach.

The Annual Hampton Beach Children's Festival returns this year to delight both the young and young at heart. Free!
Magic shows, puppets, storytellers, contests and much more are just a prelude to the main event, a huge costume parade at 11:00 am on August 21 that runs down Ocean Boulevard to the Seashell Stage - everyone gets a prize!
