New Castle's Great Island Common is a lovely 32-acre public park that includes a beach, large grassy area, and a playground. 

Open from 9 am - 9 pm every day year-round, the Great Island Common is a carry-in/carry-out park. There is a small admission fee for non-New Castle residents.

Dogs are prohibited from May 15th through September 15th; leashed dogs are permitted the rest of the year.

Kingston State Park, on the shores of Great Pond, is 14 miles from the New Hampshire seacoast and is close to many area attractions, such as Canobie Lake Park, The Fox Run Mall, various antique shops, and fine restaurants.

Peirce Island is a 27-acre island owned by the city of Portsmouth that separates the Piscataqua River from the Portsmouth's South End. It features an outdoor pool, walking paths, playgrounds, and boat launches.
