Applecrest Farm, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2013, bills itself as New Hampshire's oldest and largest apple orchard. It's a great place for a day of outdoor exploring and picking in spring, summer, and fall. Seasonal festivals feature live music, pie-eating contests, and more.

Click here for info about their fall festivals, held every weekend through September and October.

Throughout the growing season, Applecrest boasts over 40 varieties of apples, peaches, berries, sweet corn, pumpkins, and a variety of summer vegetables - not to mention cider doughnuts, seasonal pies, and fresh cider. There's also a creamery on-site featuring locally made ice cream.

Applecrest is closed from January through April and it does not offer an official cross-country trail system. However, you can call the farm to get permission to cross-country ski there in the wintertime, at your own risk.

Check out the Applecrest website for information on current crops and events. Voted best P-Y-O in the 2014 Seacoast Readers' Choice Awards.

Hours: Open 7 days a week, May through December, from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

My family and I love going to Applecrest for apple picking. The 4 stars instead of 5 is only because it gets crazy crowded--I mean, CRAZY!--during peak season. So plan your visit accordingly.
