The Music Hall, built in 1878, has been designated an American Treasure by the federal government.

It's certainly considered a treasure in and around the New Hampshire Seacoast region, featuring live musical and comedy performances, films, readings by world-famous authors, and more. The lobby was recently restored in a fanciful Beaux Arts style that itself is worth a visit.

Choose a film and plan a dinner before or after at one of the many downtown Portsmouth restaurant options for the perfect dinner-and-a-movie evening.

There's lots to do for kids, too, including a School Days matinee film series, monthly KidsRULE! movies, and KidsRULE! live performances.

The new Music Hall Loft, just around the corner, also offers a variety of programs in a more modern, more casual setting.

Hours: Vary by event. Click here for box office hours.
