The Friendly Toast is a prime downtown spot for weekend breakfast or brunch. There's always a crowd outside on the sidewalk, awaiting their turn to feast on huge platters of pancakes, eggs, biscuits & gravy, omelettes (try the Sklarmageddon), and more.

"The Toast," as it's known locally, is also a great spot to grab an informal lunch, dinner, or late-night snack.

The restaurant is chock-full of funky decor and eclectic memorabilia; a game of I Spy could well keep your children entertained for days. The restaurant is kid-friendly but somewhat crowded during busy times, so think small when it comes to strollers and gear bags.

The Friendly Toast changed owners in late 2013, so we'll be sure to keep you posted on how that affects the dining experience. In the past, my experience was always that the food was excellent but the management and service were hit-or-miss, so hopefully that's been rectified.
