Want to expose your child to healthy foods and have fun at the same time? Bring your kids on a Guiding Stars Scavenger Hunt for healthy foods at Portsmouth or Exeter Hannaford, led by Jessica O'Connell, MBA, RD, LD.
Children ages 4 and up will learn about the guiding stars nutrition labeling system and then be put to the test to find food choices that earn one, two, or three stars as they "shop" around the store! The tour can be adapted to any age and educational topic. Older children will be challenged to learn about meal planning with the stars and food budgeting.
Come in as a family or arrange a group tour such as a school class, play group, scouts troop, etc. Prizes and coupons awarded to participants. Contact Heidi to set up a time on Wednesday or Friday (morning, afternoon, and some evenings available). Please provide 4-6 weeks' notice for scheduling purposes.

I recently took the kids on a scavenger hunt at the Portsmouth Hannaford with "Miss Heidi," as my kids called her, and we all had a great time and learned a lot.
By taking the kids through different sections of the store and talking through different choices, she taught us about healthy foods vs. "treat" foods.
