The kids and I really enjoyed our recent trip to the Portland Children's Museum.

The museum is right in downtown Portland, in a big, rambling old building. There were lots of fun things to see and do on each of the three levels; my kids particularly liked the Oakie Acres farm exhibit and the fire truck.

It was quite crowded the day we went, so if you're feeling claustrophobic, move on up to the upper levels of the museum, where the crowds thin out a bit. We had the camera obscura room all to ourselves (nifty exhibit that projects a live image of the street outside onto a table in a darkened room)....more
