Camp Allen was founded in 1931 by the Boston Lions Club (later Boston Kiwanis) in partnership with the Manchester Lions Club as a retreat for young girls who were blind.
By the mid 1960s, the mission was changed to include individuals of all ages with developmental and physical challenges.
Today, more than 450 different campers attend for one or two and even multiple weeks of fun in the great outdoors. The ratio of 1:2 (with 1:1 available) allows those campers who may not be able to attend other camps due to age, ability, accessibility, or behavioral needs to come to a camp where all are welcome.
