There are three sandy beaches in York, ME, all within easy walking distance of numerous shops and restaurants (listed from south to north): 

 

  • Harbor Beach: Small beach with limited non-resident parking but accessible by trolley. Park bordering the beach has benches and shade trees. Handicap-accessible restrooms and outdoor shower.

  • Long Sands Beach: About 1.5 miles long, with metered on-street parking the whole way down. Ramp access and public restrooms. Beach umbrellas and rafts are available for rental, and lifeguards are on duty during the summer months. Surfing allowed in designated areas. Trolley access.

  • Short Sands Beach: Family-friendly beach featuring a large metered parking area and private lots, as well as ramp access, public restrooms, outdoor showers, playground, and basketball courts. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer months. Limited shade. Trolley access.

 

There are various public parking lots in the area; during the summer season, the fee for cars is $16 per day or $80 for 10-visit tokens, which are available at the Wells Town Hall and may also be available in limited quantities from the parking lot attendants. No overnight parking.

From June through September, public restrooms are available and lifeguards are on duty daily. 

During the summer season, leashed dogs are allowed on the beach only after 6:00 pm and before 8:00 am.
