The YMCA of the Seacoast is a great spot for family recreation, offering a variety of camps (both summer camps and school vacation camps), open swim opportunities and swim lessons, kids' yoga, classes, and more. Click here for current info.
Free child care is available during certain hours while mom and dad work out, too, and there are parents' nights out for (potty-trained) kids ages 3 and up.

The Jenny Thompson Outdoor Pool is a 50-meter competition pool located at 110 Portland Avenue, next to the Dover Ice Arena.
The pool is mainly used for competitive and recreational swimming as well as occasional lessons during the summer. There is also a large grassy area for kids to play on, and the pool can be rented out for private parties.
As the pool is often closed for swim meets, call to confirm hours before your visit.

Originally built in 1937 and fully refurbished in 2003, the Peirce Island Outdoor Pool is a perfect place to spend a hot, sunny summer afternoon. With a length of 100 yards, a width of 33 yards, and a gently sloping depth from 18 inches to six feet, it provides space for every age and ability.

The Portsmouth Indoor Pool offers swim classes and open swim sessions for Portsmouth residents and non-residents alike. There's a one-meter Duraflex diving board and a ramp for wheelchair access into the pool, as well as some exercise and fitness equipment.
