Located in the Arts District of downtown Portland, the Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine features a wide variety of interactive exhibits and activities for children and families. Exhibits include:
- An indoor playscape, opened in 2014, for toddlers and preschoolers

The Kittery Community Center offers a variety of youth sports and dance/theater classes, many of which are open to non-residents. There are also a number of summer sports camp opportunities.
Additionally, the Eyes of the World Discovery Center offers child care, preschool, and after-school programs.

The Prescott Park Arts Festival offers a glorious, dizzying array of events and performances throughout the warmer months, many of them family-friendly and low-cost or free. There's also a summer theater camp for kids, Camp ENCORE!
As the name implies, all events take place in or near Portsmouth's Prescott Park.
